The following press release was published by the Senate Committee On Energy & Natural Resources on April 22, 2005. It is reproduced in full below.

Washington, D.C. - The Interstate Transmission Act, introduced recently by Senators Burr, Landrieu and Lott, offers some fundamental ideas that have furthered the bipartisan electricity discussion in the committee, Senate Energy & Natural Resources Chairman Pete V. Domenici said today.

Senator Burr introduced the bill in March and spoke about it on the Senate floor earlier this week.

Chairman Domenici’s statement:

Senator Burr’s expertise in the area of electricity will be a major asset as we put together the Energy Bill. His bill promotes the goals of reliability, regulatory certainty and infrastructure investment. I look forward to working with Senator Burr as we strive to put together a balanced, comprehensive energy bill.
