Washington, D.C. - The Senate Energy & Natural Resources Committee will hold a hearing on Wednesday, Nov. 15, at 10 a.m. in Dirksen 366 to hear testimony regarding a report released last December by a presidential task force on the status of Puerto Rico.

The Committee will invite the U.S. Administration, the Governor of Puerto Rico, the Resident Commissioner of Puerto Rico and a witness from the Puerto Rican Independence Party.

Senator Domenici’s statement:

“This hearing will provide the Senate an opportunity to review this important report. We will carefully consider the recommendations of the White House task force and the witnesses at the hearing as we analyze options for Puerto Rico’s future.

Senator Bingaman’s statement:

“I thank the Chairman for announcing a hearing on this important topic and reaffirm my belief that the people of Puerto Rico should have an opportunity to choose among the viable status options: continued territorial status, statehood, or independence. Achieving consensus on this process will require active engagement by the Administration."
