Sen. Murkowski’s Statement on the Arizona Fire Tragedy

The following press release was published by the Senate Committee On Energy & Natural Resources on July 1, 2013. It is reproduced in full below.

WASHINGTON, D.C. - U.S. Sen. Lisa Murkowski, R-Alaska, today expressed her condolences to the families of the 19 firefighters who died Sunday battling a wildfire near Prescott, Arizona:

“The death of 19 firefighters in the Yarnell Hill fire is a terrible tragedy. No words can mend the heartbreak one feels at times like these. And no gesture can do justice to the sacrifice paid by those who selflessly put themselves in harms way to protect the life and property of their neighbors. My heart goes out to their friends and families. Know that people from far and wide love you and that the nation mourns with you."
