A Tennessee man faces up to 20 years in prison after being convicted earlier this month of possessing child exploitation materials.
Alexander Dewayne Noah, 25, of Tazewell, was found guilty of the felony charges after a two-day jury trial in U.S. District Court, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement announced March 9. The joint investigation was conducted by ICE Homeland Security Investigations and the Internet Crimes Against Children Unit of the Knoxville Police Department, ICE said in the announcement.
“The excellent investigative efforts of our HSI agents, working with the KPD ICAC, resulted in the apprehension and subsequent conviction of this offender for exploitation of child victims,” Jerry C. Templet Jr., HSI Nashville Special Agent in Charge, said in the announcement.
Evidence presented at the trial shows the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children sent a tip to HSI that child pornography was being stored on a local online account. A search warrant for Noah's residence was then issued and executed, which led to a federal indictment against Noah, ICE reports.
In addition to 20 years in prison, Noah also faces supervised release for up to the rest of his life and must register as a sex offender everywhere he lives, works and attends school, according to ICE. Sentencing is scheduled for July 14.
