A Texas man has pleaded guilty to several charges of child pornography, the Immigration and Customs Enforcement said in March.
With the guilty plea, David De Los Santos faces up to 20 years in prison, ICE said in a release, adding that there is a possible fine of $250,000. He remains in custody until his sentencing.
"During his court hearing, De Los Santos told the court he was challenging the content of those items discovered," ICE said. "The investigation began after ICE HSI linked De Los Santos to child exploitative materials on the internet."
Investigators found 832 image and video files at his residence in Laredo depicting children engaged in sexually explicit conduct through forensic analysis, ICE said. Those digital files included children younger than 5 years old, with some images "involving elements of bondage of bestiality," ICE said.
Santos, 30, entered his guilty plea before U.S. District Judge Diana Saldana.
The case against De Los Santos is part of the Project Safe Childhood, Department of Justice initiative started in 2006 "to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse," the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Southern District of Texas said in a release.
