Tucson, AZ - Monday morning, U.S. Marshals arrested Jamie Jackson, 40, in Watertown, New York. Jackson was wanted by the Pima County Sheriff’s Office in Tucson, Arizona for failure to appear in court when a jury convicted him of 6 counts of Aggravated Harassment, Stalking, and Aggravated Assault on March 8, 2018.
“Thanks to the hard work and dedication of the men and women of the Arizona WANTED Violent Offender Task Force, Jamie Jackson is behind bars today," stated United States Marshal David Gonzales. “The United States Marshals Service works daily with our partnering law enforcement agencies to ensure that no fugitive can escape justice no matter how far they run."
In September of 2016, Jackson physically assaulted his girlfriend by strangling her during an argument. The victim then sought and obtained an Order of Protection against Jackson. Despite this order, Jackson continued to make phone calls and send text messages and e-mails to the victim. He also showed up at the victim's residence and workplace, and chased after her in a vehicle when she attempted to leave. In March of 2018, Jackson failed to show up for the remainder of his trial on the Aggravated Harassment, Stalking and Aggravated Assault charges and was still found guilty. A warrant was issued for his arrest due to his failure to appear.
Investigators became aware that Jackson had left the State of Arizona to avoid arrest, and they knew he was likely hiding in Watertown, New York. The collaboration between the Tucson Police Department, the Arizona WANTED Violent Offender Task Force, and the U.S. Marshals Service New York/New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force in New York led to Jackson being located and arrested. Jackson was booked at a local facility in New York to await his return to Arizona.
The Arizona WANTED Violent Offender Task Force is a U.S. Marshals Service led multi-jurisdictional fugitive apprehension unit responsible for more than 1748 arrests in the last year. The task force is comprised of 22 agencies bringing together the resources of federal, state and local law enforcement agencies to locate and arrest the community’s most violent offenders and sexual predators.
