Texas Marshals Assemble

Austin, TX - On Sept. 11, 2019, all four Presidentially appointed U.S. Marshals from the Great State of Texas assembled in Austin as guests of Governor Greg Abbott to pay tribute to Supervisory Deputy U.S. Marshal (SDUSM) Norm Merkel who died in the line of duty on Jan. 16, 2019. The governor presented the Star of Texas award to SUDUM's Merkel’s mother and sister. This is the first time in history the four marshals have been hosted in the Chamber of the House of Representatives. The picture shows the Marshals (Eastern District of Texas, John M. Garrison, Northern District of Texas, Richard E. Taylor, Jr., Southern District of Texas, Gary Blankinship, Western District of Texas, Susan L. Pamerleau) standing at the desk of the Speaker of the House of Representatives.
