Jacksonville, FL - U.S. Marshal Pete Tobin is pleased to announce during the afternoon hours of Dec. 30, 2020, the U.S. Marshals Caribbean Regional Fugitive Task Force arrested fugitive Tylan Sims on an outstanding warrant from Franklin County Municipal Court, Columbus, Ohio for the charge of murder.
On September 8, 2020, Sims was formally charged by the court for allegedly assaulting another individual with a firearm within the City of Columbus. The Columbus Police Department investigated this case involving Sims; the warrant was then adopted by the U.S. Marshals Southern Ohio Fugitive Apprehension Strike Team (SOFAST). SOFAST developed information to believe Sims fled the State of Ohio and was in the Jacksonville, FL area. SOFAST investigators contacted U.S. Marshals in FL to assist, the task force quickly arrested Sims in a local hotel without incident.
Sims is currently in custody at the Duval County Sheriff's Office in FL awaiting extradition back to Columbus Ohio.
Columbus SOFAST is a fugitive-focused, U.S. Marshals Service-led task force consisting of local, state and federal authorities including the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office, Columbus Division of Police, Delaware County Sheriff’s Office, Ohio Adult Parole Authority, Reynoldsburg Division of Police, Lancaster Police Department, Delaware County Probation, Ohio State Highway Patrol, Immigration and Customs Enforcement, United States Secret Service and the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
