Jacksonville, FL - The suspected gunman wanted in connection with the May 8th Times Square shooting, which left a 4-year-old girl and two others injured, was arrested today by federal, state and local law enforcement agents in Starke.
Farrakhan Muhammad was taken into custody without incident in a McDonald's restaurant parking lot shortly after noon.
Members of the U.S. Marshals Service Florida Caribbean Regional Fugitive Task Force from Jacksonville and Gainesville worked with Starke Police and Bradford County and Marion County DEA Task Force to make the arrest, with leads provided by the USMS New York/New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force and NYPD.
Muhammad was wanted by the NYPD for firing a gun multiple times during a disagreement near West 44th Street and 7th Avenue in Manhattan.
The arrest occurred less than 24 hours after NYPD released a new photo of the suspect.
The U.S. Marshals Florida Caribbean Regional Fugitive Task Force is comprised of federal, state and local law enforcement officers. The members of the task force combine resources and efforts daily to apprehend violent fugitives of justice through networking with task forces across the country.
