Missing, Endangered Child From Texas Safely Recovered by U.S. Marshals in Colorado Child found in vehicle with noncustodial parent

Austin, TX - Members of the U.S. Marshals in Colorado Springs safely recovered a missing and endangered 5-year-old child this morning in the 3100 block of US-50 in Canon City, Colorado.

On Oct. 25, the Cedar Park Police Department and the Texas Department of Public Safety, Texas Rangers Division, requested assistance from the U.S. Marshals Lone Star Fugitive Task Force in Austin to assist with locating and recovering a child who was believed to be with noncustodial parent, Celene Caye Roberts, 27, of Cedar Park.

Authorities from local, state and federal agencies combined efforts with the investigation and learned Roberts had fled the state of Texas for Colorado and was possibly driving a gray Chevrolet Impala with a Texas license plate with distinguished damage.

The Austin based-task force requested additional assistance from the U.S. Marshals in District of Colorado - Colorado Springs Division to assist with locating Roberts.

This morning, the U.S Marshals in Colorado Springs located a 2006 Chevrolet Impala parked in a parking lot in Canon City off of US-50, from which the child was recovered safely and turned over to the Colorado Department of Human Services, Child Protection Division.

The Justice for Victims of Trafficking Act of 2015 enhanced the U.S. Marshals Service discretionary authority to assist law enforcement agencies with the recovery of missing, endangered, or abducted children, regardless of whether a fugitive or sex offender was involved. Since 2015, the agency has recovered more than 2,307 missing children.
