The following press release was published by the House Committee on Oversight and Reform on July 30, 2012. It is reproduced in full below.

Washington, DC - Today, Rep. Elijah E. Cummings, Ranking Member of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, will offer brief remarks regarding executive compensation at for-profit colleges at a press conference hosted by Senator Tom Harkin, Chairman of the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee.

Sen. Harkin will unveil a report on for-profit education, and the 30 companies that have been the focus of a two-year investigation by his Committee.

On Friday, Cummings circulated a memo with preliminary findings from his ongoing investigation, which found many for-profit colleges pay their executives based almost exclusively on corporate profitability, without taking into account student outcomes.
