New Orleans, LA - The U.S. Marshals Service (USMS) New Orleans Task Force along with the New Orleans Police Department, LA Probation and Parole, and the Orleans Parish Sheriff’s Office arrested non-compliant Tier 3 Sex Offender (lifetime sex offender registration) Alfred “Al" Anderson (DOB: 08/18/1987) at a residence in the 2900 block of Louisa Street in New Orleans on the early morning of 02/04/2022, where it is believed that he had been hiding out for several weeks. Anderson, who took over five minutes to come to the door finally surrendered without incident. The residence where he was staying had an adult female and several children present. A tip from Crimestoppers GNO with follow-up investigative work by the USMS New Orleans Task Force led to his arrest on multiple felony warrants. Anderson was a target fugitive for Operation Boo Dat 2021, but investigators were unable to locate him during the operation and USMS investigation showed he was receiving aid in hiding from associates in the New Orleans metro area.
On the same morning the task force also arrested two fugitives with one arrested in Plaquemines Parish and believed to be a gang member wanted for Aggravated Assault with a Firearm and Aggravated Second Degree Battery out of Jefferson Parish and the second arrest being a fugitive wanted for Second Degree Murder in New Orleans and arrested in New Orleans on Broad Street.
Anderson was convicted of Simple Rape and Attempted Simple Rape in Lafayette, Louisiana in 2008 and is required to register as a sex offender for life. In 2014 he was convicted in Lafayette, LA of felony Failure to Register as a Sex Offender. He is currently wanted by the New Orleans Police Department Sex Offender Registration Unit on a 01/14/2022, felony warrant for Failure to Register as a Sex Offender as he absconded from his last known address in the 2400 block of North Tonti Street and never updated his residence information. Anderson is also currently on parole with LA Probation and Parole and a Parole warrant was issued for his arrest in October 2021 related to a prior conviction for Simple Robbery and Failure to Register as a Sex Offender. He was paroled in June of 2020 and supposed to be on LA Parole until 2023.
On 08/27/2021, the New Orleans Police Department arrested Anderson for an alleged domestic violence incident at an apartment in the 6300 block of Kuebel Street New Orleans. Anderson, who was on parole at the time was found with a loaded firearm on his person and he was arrested for Felon in Possession of a Firearm, Resisting Police with Force/Violence, and Aggravated Assault Upon a Peace Officer. In October of 2021, New Orleans Police Department also obtained an arrest warrant for Anderson for Simple Assault and Simple Criminal Damage to Property related to another alleged domestic violence incident in the 6300 block of Kuebel Street New Orleans, LA. On 12/14/2021, 41st Judicial District Court Orleans Parish Criminal District Court issued a capias for his arrest for Failure to Appear in Court on the August 2021 felony Firearm and Aggravated Assault Upon a Police Officer case.
The USMS New Orleans Task Force, established in 1999, is committed to seeking out violent felony offender fugitives, noncompliant sex offenders, and the recovery of missing/endangered children. Agencies that make up the task force include New Orleans Police Department, Orleans Parish Sheriff’s Office, Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office, Kenner Police Department, St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office, St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office, Plaquemines Parish Sheriff’s Office, LA State Police, LA Probation and Parole, and U.S. Border Patrol. The task force also works with other local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies in the Eastern District of Louisiana on a regular basis.
