San Antonio, TX - Brian Ontiveros was apprehended by the U.S. Marshals Service Lone Star Fugitive Task Force (LSFTF) tonight on charges involving homicide.

Ontiveros, 26, was wanted by the San Antonio Police Department (SAPD) after a warrant was issued for his arrest in 2019. Ontiveros is the alleged gunman in the murder of a young single mother. On June 8, 2019, Ontiveros allegedly shot the victim multiple times after breaking into her apartment and fleeing the scene before police arrived. As a result, the LSFTF were requested to assist in his apprehension.

Deputy U.S. Marshals (DUSMs) obtained information that Ontiveros had fled from San Antonio to the Republic of Mexico. DUSMs coordinated the investigation with their Mexican law enforcement partners and confirmed that Ontiveros was hiding out in the city of Piedras Negras, MX, where he was arrested tonight.

Ontiveros was returned to the U.S. and is being held in a detention facility in Eagle Pass, TX, awaiting extradition back to San Antonio. He will also face additional federal charges for unlawful flight to avoid prosecution.

“The arrest of Brian Ontiveros is a testament to how effective and valuable our relationships are with our international and domestic law enforcement partners," said U.S. Marshal Susan Pamerleau. “Deputy U.S. Marshals and Mexican law enforcement officers remained diligent throughout this investigation and never stopped searching until Ontiveros was finally arrested."
