Washington, DC -- Today, Rep. Elijah E. Cummings, Ranking Member of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, issued the following statement regarding President Obama’s announcement of the resignation of Steven Miller, the acting commissioner of the IRS:

“I applaud the President for taking this decisive and appropriate step and for his commitment to work with Congress on a bipartisan basis to hold IRS officials accountable for their actions and to implement the reforms recommended by the Inspector General."
