Subcommittee Chairmen DeSantis and Jordan Opening Statements at Joint Immigration Hearing

The following press release was published by the House Committee on Oversight and Reform on Feb. 25, 2015. It is reproduced in full below.

“The American people have every right to expect the government to abide by the laws of the land, especially those that impose duties on government officials to protect the safety and security of the American people."

“Unfortunately, since 2013, 1,000 of those released criminal convicts have been convicted yet again for additional offenses. In other words, people have been victimized because government has failed to repatriate these criminal convicts to their home countries as provided for by law."

CHAIRMAN JORDAN

“We are having an important debate here in Congress…the debate centers around unconstitutional actions of this President last November."

“This hearing would’ve been better if the Department of Homeland Security would’ve had the courage to come here today and answer not just our question, but questions the American people have about this important issue."
