Cummings Responds to Resignation of OPM Director

The following press release was published by the House Committee on Oversight and Reform on July 10, 2015. It is reproduced in full below.

Washington, DC - Today, Rep. Elijah E. Cummings, Ranking Member of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, issued the following statement in response to the resignation of the Director of OPM:

“We appreciate and thank Director Archuleta for her many years of public service to our nation. The challenges OPM faces are daunting and span far beyond the critical task of securing the agency’s information technology systems. They also include managing the immediate crisis faced by tens of millions of federal employees who have had their personal information compromised, overhauling the process by which our nation processes security clearances, improving oversight and accountability of contractors entrusted with this information, and working with the Government Accountability Office and the Inspector General to ensure that there is strong support for the agency’s path forward. We look forward to working with Ms. Cobert as she takes on her very critical new role."
