TOMORROW: Cummings to Address Nurses and Health Professionals on Investigation of Skyrocketing Drug Prices

The following press release was published by the House Committee on Oversight and Reform on April 20, 2016. It is reproduced in full below.

Washington, D.C.-Tomorrow, Rep. Elijah E. Cummings, Ranking Member of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, will speak about his investigation of the rising costs of prescription drugs at the American Federation of Teachers’ Nurses and Health Professional Issues Conference and Labor Academy.

For the past several years, Cummings has been investigating the skyrocketing prices of prescription drugs and price gouging by pharmaceutical companies on medicines used to treat everything from common health conditions to life-threatening illnesses. Cummings has also been working to identify measures that would increase access to affordable medications for patients, healthcare providers, and hospitals across the country. His investigations have shined a light on CEOs like Martin Shkreli and Michael Pearson who drastically raised prices for critical drugs at the expense and health of the American people.
