Chairman Cummings To Be Honored With “Sunshine in Government” Award for 2019

Washington, D.C. (Mar.7, 2019)- Tomorrow, on Friday, March 8, 2019, Rep. Elijah E. Cummings, the Chairman of the Committee on Oversight and Reform, will deliver the keynote speech and accept the “Sunshine in Government Award" at the Freedom of Information Conference for his tireless efforts to increase government transparency.

Next week is “Sunshine Week," which is dedicated to increasing transparency and accountability at all levels of the federal government. The Oversight Committee plans to hold a hearing on FOIA on Wednesday, March 13, 2019.

On June 30, 2016, President Barack Obama signed into law the FOIA Improvement Act of 2016, which Cummings championed in the House of Representatives.
