Ranking Member Jordan and Rep. Green Joint Statement on House Democrats’ Refusal to Hold Michael Cohen Accountable

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, the House of Representatives voted to not consider House Resolution 304, a resolution that would force House Democrats to hold convicted liar Michael Cohen accountable for his lies to the Committee. The resolution would require Chairman Elijah Cummings to transmit an official transcript of Cohen’s testimony to the Justice Department for potential prosecution. Ranking Member Jim Jordan (R-OH) and Rep. Mark Green (R-TN) released the following statement after the vote:

“We’re disappointed that today the House of Representatives refused to take the simple step of submitting Michael Cohen’s testimony to the Department of Justice so that they can evaluate whether he committed perjury. When Chairman Cummings orchestrated Cohen’s appearance before our Committee, he promised accountability. The Chairman’s vote sadly confirms that the Democrats are more interested in coordinated attacks on President Trump than in pursuing the truth or defending our institution against those who diminish it with lies to serve their own ends."
