WASHINGTON-House Committee on Oversight and Reform Ranking Member James Comer (R-Ky.) today blasted House passage of the $1.9 trillion Pelosi Payoff to Progressives Act, which now heads to President Biden’s desk to be signed into law:
“Pelosi’s Payoff is the Swamp at its worst. Pelosi’s Payoff has little to do with providing pandemic relief to hardworking American families and has everything to do with advancing their left-wing agenda. The bill spends hundreds of billions of dollars to bail out locked-down blue states with no strings attached, fund Planned Parenthood, and provide illegal immigrants with taxpayer-funded healthcare subsidies. It also spends over half a billion dollars to provide federal workers with additional paid leave to watch their children Zoom into school while doing nothing for American families facing the consequences of school closures.
“President Biden promised unity, but his words have proven empty less than two months into his presidency. Speaker Pelosi and Senator Schumer rammed one of the most expensive bills in history through Congress without a single Republican vote and now President Biden will sign it into law. We are entrusted with stewarding Americans’ taxpayer dollars, but this bill squanders them. Americans deserve better from Congress and the President."
