Washington, D.C.- House Energy and Commerce Committee Republican Leader Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-WA) and Health Subcommittee Republican Leader Brett Guthrie (R-KY) released the following statement after President Joe Biden signed H.R. 1667, Dr. Lorna Breen Health Care Provider Protection Act, and H.R. 189, the John Lewis NIMHD Research Endowment Revitalization Act of 2021.

“We applaud and thank our colleagues for their bipartisan work on these solutions that the President signed in law today. The Dr. Lorna Breen Health Care Provider Protection Act will help our frontline health care workers. Especially to her family and the many advocates who honored Dr. Breen’s memory, we thank them for their diligent work to increase access to mental health support to millions of health care professionals across our country who have made immense sacrifices during the pandemic.

“The John Lewis NIMHD Research Endowment Revitalization Act, led by Congressman Buddy Carter, will increase investments in schools conducting critical research into minority health disparities. This is important bipartisan legislation to support healthier futures and improved quality of life for all Americans."
