The Farmington Field Office of the Bureau of Land Management welcomed another experienced addition to its staff. Maureen Joe began work on March 14 for the office.
"We are looking forward to Maureen joining the team as the Farmington Field Office Manager," Bureau of Land Management's Farmington District Manager Al Elser said in a department release. "Her prior experience with the BLM and leading the Federal Indian Minerals Office will prove invaluable in leading the office as we balance the BLM's mission across a complex and culturally rich landscape."
According to the Daily Times, Joe is not new to the region. She was raised in northwest New Mexico and served as the project field manager for the Farmington office for four years. After that, she spent nine years as the assistant field manager for the office.
"I am very humbled and excited to return to the BLM," Joe said in the release. "I take my responsibility as a land steward within the four-corners of New Mexico very seriously as this is my backyard and yours. I am committed to working collaboratively with the local communities, Tribal entities, the various stakeholders. It is my honor to lead a talented and passionate staff at the BLM Farmington Field Office."
The Farmington field office oversees the management of 1.4 million acres of public land. On these lands, visitors can find historical and cultural sites and recreational trails.
