A China Eastern Airlines Boeing jet recently took a nosedive into the mountains of southern China leaving no survivors.

There were 123 passengers and nine crew members on board, Reuters reported. Since the crash, two black box devices have been recovered.

"We have been in close communication with our customer and regulatory authorities since the accident, and have offered the full support of our technical experts to the investigation led by the Civil Aviation Administration of China," Boeing CEO David Calhoun told employees.

An early examination of the first black box device recovered from the crash revealed it to be the jet's cockpit voice recorder, an official from the Civil Aviation Administration of China said in a media briefing.

The flight was en route to Guangzhou from Kunming. While rescue teams are searching the area, the cause of the crash has yet to be determined, BBC News reported.

"Boeing is in contact with the U.S. National Transportation Safety Board and our technical experts are prepared to assist with the investigation led by the Civil Aviation Administration of China," Boeing said in a tweet on the same day as the crash.
