The Humboldt River Field Office has signed a Decision Record and Finding of No Significant Impact statement for the Environmental Assessment regarding conveyance of public lands to Humboldt County. The conveyance of 240 acres of public lands to the county will expand the Humboldt County Shooting Range, a public area managed by the county for shooting sports Only two acres will have surface disturbance to clear vegetation from around target set-up sites. The remaining acres will serve as a safety corridor behind the targets.
The Humboldt River Field Office analyzed the effects of conveying public lands to Humboldt County. A final Environment Assessment has been completed and no significant impacts were found.
"The HRFO has worked with Humboldt County to provide more space locally for shooting sports,” said Kathleen Rehberg, Humboldt River Field Office Manager. “The public has used this area for 13 years and needs more space to recreate safely. By conveying this public land, we also support the administration’s goal of improving access for recreation."
