The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) is seeking public ideas and input for a proposed new parking lot on the Campbell Creek Science Center (CCSC) campus located within the 730-acre Campbell Tract in Anchorage. The public comment period opens March 25 for 30 days.
The BLM will host a virtual public meeting to describe the proposed project on Tuesday, April 5 at 5 p.m. To sign up for the virtual public meeting, visit the CCSC Access Parking Lot National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) BLM National NEPA Register website. Members of the public may participate and comment by following instructions on the website, or by submitting comments by postal mail:

A proposed project summary document, draft proposed parking lot designs and maps will be available for public review on the CCSC Access Parking Lot BLM National NEPA Register documents page.
CCSC programming reaches an average of 45,000 annual onsite participants. The proposed new parking lot is intended to meet visitation needs to fulfill the CCSC goal of engaging all learners in outdoor experiences that increase appreciation, connection and stewardship of Alaska’s public lands and natural resources.
The proposed parking lot was designed with several key concepts in mind:
- Ensure safe and clear pedestrian routes
- Create clear, defined vehicle traffic flow
- Address administrative security concerns
- Improve maintenance capability and efficiency
