Leader Rodgers Invites Sec. Granholm to Testify in April on Rising Gas Prices

House Energy and Commerce Committee Republican Leader Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-WA) sent a letter to Secretary of Energy Jennifer Granholm inviting her to testify before the Energy and Commerce Committee on what the Biden administration will do to reverse its anti-American energy agenda and help increase domestic oil and gas production in order to lower costs.

“The Energy and Commerce Committee intends to hold a hearing on April 6, 2022, to explore rising gas prices. Last week, Chairman Pallone sent letters to six oil and gas companies accusing them of ‘exploiting the war in Ukraine’ and suggesting they are ‘keep[ing] prices artificially high’ to ‘increase their own profits.’ Clearly, this hearing is an attempt to deflect blame for the impact the Biden-Harris administration’s rush-to-green policies are having on domestic energy production.

“As the Secretary of Energy, you are well-positioned to explain to the Committee and the American people what the Biden-Harris administration will do to reverse its anti-American energy agenda to help address rising gas prices. Further, you recently said we ‘are on war footing’ and that ‘[i]n this moment of crisis, we need more supply.’ Accordingly, we invite you to testify at the April 6, 2022 hearing to explain the specific steps the Biden-Harris administration will be taking to help increase domestic oil and gas production and supply.”
