Portland, ME - The U.S. Marshals Service, Maine Violent Offender Task Force announce the arrest of Tyler Miller, 37, of Newport, Maine. Miller was being sought by the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office out of Ohio on a warrant issued by them on July 20th 2020, for failing to register as a sex offender.
According to Department of Army documents, Miller was previously an E-4 in the Army and had been adjudicated guilty in October of 2009 to wrongful sexual contact under a Special Court-Martial. Miller was reduced to E-1, confined for 11 months, and later discharged from the service with a “bad-conduct" discharge. Miller was also required to register as a sex offender in accordance with 42 USC; 14071, the documents stated.
Through a collaborative effort, investigators determined that Miller had fled to Maine. U.S. Marshals were able to safely apprehend Miller at an address in Newport without incident.
