USAID Administrator Samantha Power’s Meeting with Syrian American Leaders

Today, Administrator Samantha Power participated in a virtual roundtable with members of the Syrian diaspora, including the American Coalition for Syria (ACS) and the Syrian American Medical Society (SAMS). During the discussion, Administrator Power remarked on the significance of the Syrian conflict entering its eleventh year without a resolution and reinforced the United States’ commitment to alleviating human suffering for the Syrian people.

Administrator Power shared updates on USAID’s humanitarian and stabilization efforts to support Syrians, and solicited the group’s feedback about how the United States can better engage with the Syrian diaspora community to meet Syrians’ needs. She underscored USAID’s and the U.S. government’s commitment to preserving and expanding humanitarian access so that communities in need can receive basic services and essential goods. The U.S. government remains the largest donor for Syria and has provided nearly $14.1 billion in humanitarian assistance and over $1.3 billion in stabilization assistance to the people of Syria since 2011.
