On April 1, 2022, Administrator Power met with Bono, cofounder of ONE and (RED), to discuss the global response to the COVID-19 pandemic and the continuing deterioration of the humanitarian situation in Ukraine.
Administrator Power and Bono discussed the importance of sustained COVID-19 response efforts, including the delivery of safe, effective COVID-19 vaccines around the world, with recognition that the pandemic is not yet over and longer-term development backslides are of deep concern. They spoke about the critical importance of securing additional funding from Congress to continue USAID’s global vaccination efforts. They also discussed the United States’s humanitarian response to Putin’s war in Ukraine, and the growing impact of the war on global food security.
