(WASHINGTON) - Today, Rep. Bennie G. Thompson (D-MS), Ranking Member of the House Committee on Homeland Security, released the below statement thanking Deputy Secretary of Homeland Security Jane Holl Lute for her service after announcing she will leave the Department in May:

I want to thank Deputy Secretary Lute for contributions to the Department of Homeland Security and her years of public service as she plans to leave the Department next month. In particular, she deserves much praise for her efforts at bolstering our Nation's cybersecurity and negotiating US-EU Passenger Name Record agreements. Additionally, her openness to working with Congress will be sorely missed and I sincerely hope her successor shares this spirit of cooperation and has a strong record of leadership to address the morale and other challenges of this large, diverse organization.
