Foxx Named as Conferee on China Legislation

ORGANIZATIONS IN THIS STORY

Today, Education and Labor Committee Republican Leader Virginia Foxx (R-NC) released the following statement after being selected as a conferee to produce legislation intended to strengthen America’s deterrence to the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) geopolitical threats:

“The CCP has proven over decades that it will deploy any scheme, no matter how subversive, to incapacitate the safety and prosperity of our republic. As the Republican Leader of the Committee on Education and Labor, I firmly believe that substantive reforms are required to bolster America’s workforce and deter the CCP’s influence within our institutions of higher education. We must rise to meet this moment.

“The misguided policies of Democrat special interests—such as burdensome Davis-Bacon provisions and union card check—will never allow America’s workforce to sustain a competitive edge against the CCP. We must work to cultivate a skilled workforce and require greater transparency of foreign investment in America’s colleges and universities. These are two simple imperatives that cannot be overlooked. I thank Leader McCarthy for selecting me for this important role. I am confident that America can meet the greatest geopolitical challenge of this generation.”
