The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is seeking nominations for candidates to serve on its Farm, Ranch, and Rural Communities Federal Advisory Committee (FRRCC).

According to an EPA news release, the FRRCC was formed 14 years ago to offer recommendations and independent advice to the EPA’s administrator on key environmental issues and policies that are key to rural and agricultural areas. Rod Snyder, senior agriculture adviser to the administrator, said in the news release that the committee will be instrumental as the EPA studies the best ways to work with  farmers, ranchers and rural communities to address climate issues.

“The FRRCC provides a venue for agricultural stakeholders to provide meaningful feedback to EPA regarding a range of policies and programs,” Snyder said in the EPA news release.

The EPA news release noted that the panel will include a diverse group of members picked form agriculture, service and other relevant areas.

Snyder noted in the news release that the role is important as the EPA deals with the best ways to work with farmers, ranchers and communities to deal with climate change.

EPA Administrator Michael Regan, according to the news release, is pushing the panel to focus on advancing strategies for how agriculture can adapt to climate change.
