Rodgers, Latta Commend Bipartisan Bills Improving Broadband Mapping and Spectrum Allocation

House Energy and Commerce Committee Republican Leader Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-WA) and Communication and Technology Subcommittee Republican Leader Bob Latta (R-OH) released the following statement commending the passing of bipartisan legislation to enhance broadband health mapping and spectrum coordination.

“Securing American leadership in next generation communications technology is essential to winning the future. The bipartisan bills passed today will enhance interagency spectrum coordination, as well as improve our existing broadband health mapping tools by incorporating public data on maternal health. We applaud Reps. Gus Bilirakis’ (R-FL) efforts to ensure spectrum is available to keep up with demands for new and improved wireless technologies, and for working with G.K. Butterfield (D-NC) and Lisa Blunt Rochester (D-DE) to save lives by improving broadband health mapping tools.”

The following Communications and Technology Subcommittee bills were passed this week with bipartisan support:

  • Spectrum Coordination Act (H.R. 2501), introduced by Rep. Gus Bilirakis (R-FL)
  • Data Mapping to Save Moms’ Lives Act (H.R. 1218), introduced by Reps. G.K. Butterfield (D-NC), Gus Bilirakis (R-FL), and Lisa Blunt Rochester (D-DE)
