15 press releases published in January by U.S. Department of Homeland Security

There were 15 press releases published by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security in January.

The most recent press release, "DHS Takes Action to Combat Forced Labor and Hold Companies Accountable for Exploiting Workers," was submitted on Jan. 28.

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security published 18 releases the month before, marking a 16.7 percent decrease for the current month.

The Department was built out of more than 20 agencies in 2002. Downsizing the Federal Government, a project aimed at lower taxes and boosting federal efficiency, argued the Department is burdened with "unneeded bureaucracy" which could be handled by other departments or standalone operations.

At the national level, DHS’s attention and political emphasis is accused of being out of balance with many of today’s most serious threats.
