Reclamation to Host Oil Boom Deployment Training

The  Bureau of Reclamation’s Yuma Area Office announced today that on Wednesday April 20, 2022, agency personnel, along with local emergency management and response entities, will host a one-day oil spill training event using oil containment and recovery equipment on the lower Colorado River.

The purpose of the training is to provide local EMS personnel with familiarization with oil spill response and recovery equipment and deployment methods/strategies, for responding to accidental oil spills or releases on the river. The training also provides the opportunity for local response entities to become familiar with each other’s response equipment and capabilities.

The training event will be held at Centennial Beach at West Wetlands Park in Yuma, Arizona, beginning at 8 a.m. and ending at 5 p.m. on April 20

Questions or comments about the training event should be directed to Bryon Green, Environmental Compliance Specialist with Reclamation’s Yuma Area Office at (928) 343-8201 or via email at bhgreen@usbr.gov.
