The Bureau of Ocean Energy Management is requesting public input after releasing a draft evaluating potential future impacts from commercial leasing, related site characterization and assessment activities within the Morro Bay Wind Energy Area.
Environmental and socioeconomic impacts are analyzed in the draft with a focus on offshore wind energy leases and relative site characterization and assessment activities, according to an April 6 news release.
“Public input on our environmental analysis and identified measures to avoid or reduce potential impacts from leasing activities is an important part of our process under the National Environmental Policy Act,” BOEM’s Pacific Office Regional Director Doug Boren said, according to the release. “BOEM will analyze and consider all comments before we finalize our analysis.”
