Become a Junior Ranger at Lake Mead National Recreation Area, April 23

Families are invited to learn about the value of our national parks and how you can help protect and cherish parks by becoming an official Junior Ranger at Lake Mead National Recreation Area’s annual Junior Ranger Day. The event will be held at the Alan Bible Visitor Center grounds from 9:30 am – 1:30 pm Saturday, April 23.

All ages and abilities are welcome to participate and learn about the diverse world within the park. Activities will highlight what it takes to be a park ranger, the different forms of plant and wildlife our researchers monitor in the field, the B.A.R.K. Ranger Program, becoming a park volunteer, water and fire safety awareness trainings, and more. After participants visit the different activity tables, they will take the pledge to become official Junior Rangers and be presented with a Lake Mead Junior Ranger badge.

All current fourth grade and home-school equivalent students who attend the event are encouraged to bring a paper copy of the Every Kid Outdoors pass that will grant them and three guests free admission to more than 2,000 federal public lands, including more than 400 national park units between September 1, 2022 – August 31, 2023.

For the safety of all participants, activity stations will be spaced throughout the Alan Visitor Bible Center grounds and amphitheater. Lake Mead National Recreation Area is open to the public and currently does not require masks to be worn inside park facilities or on public land, but individuals may wear masks if they choose to do so.
