Harris: 'HSI is committed to protecting the innocent' after Michigan man sentenced for child pornography charges

A Michigan man has been sentenced to 15 years in federal prison on charges of distributing child pornography.

Sean McClanahan, 51, of Dearborn, was convicted for the second time for a federal child pornography offense following an investigation by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations Detroit, according to an April 14 news release.

"HSI is committed to protecting the innocent and ensuring offenders like McClanahan are removed from our communities," said HSI Detroit Acting Special Agent in Charge James C. Harris III.

McClanahan was sentenced to 15 years in federal prison on charges of distribution of child pornography. Court records indicated McClanahan sent a link containing files of child pornography to an undercover officer July 2018. He reported admitted to his involvement with more than 600 images of child pornography.

“Each time an image of an abused child is distributed or viewed online, it revictimizes that child," Attorney Dawn N. Ison said in the release. "We will protect these children and hold individuals accountable each and every time they prey on our most vulnerable citizens.”
