WASHINGTON, DC- Today, Senator Edward M. Kennedy, Chairman of the Health,Education, Labor and Pensions Committee, released the following statement in responseto the House passage of the Children’s Health Insurance Program.

“The House has voted for the most important advance in children’s health in a decadeand so will the Senate. After vetoing bills to end the war in Iraq and to support lifesavingstem cell research, it would be outrageous for President Bush to make uninsuredchildren the latest casualty of his veto pen."
