KENNEDY, MILLER HOLD CONFEREE MEETING ON THE COLLEGE COST REDUCTION ACT OF 2007

WASHINGTON, DC- Today, Senator Edward M. Kennedy, Chairman of the Senate Health,Education, Labor and Pensions Committee and Representative George Miller, Chairman of theCommittee on Education and Labor, will hold a meeting between the House and SenateConferees on the conference of H.R. 2669, the College Cost Reduction Act of 2007. This bill, coupled with S. 1642, the Senate’s Higher Education Access Act of 2007, will increaseaccess to higher education and ensure federal dollars are going where they are most needed--to students. The bill addresses the financial needs today’s students face, providing the largestincrease in student aid since the GI bill.
