Murray Suggests Three Steps President Trump Should Take To Jumpstart Bipartisan Health Care Negotiations

The following press release was published by the Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions on Sept. 27, 2017. It is reproduced in full below.

(Washington, D.C.) - Today, Senator Patty Murray (D-WA), Ranking Member of the Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP) Committee, issued the following statement on reports that President Trump expressed interest in working with Democrats on health care legislation.

“It would be a welcome shift for President Trump to stop his health care sabotage and instead work across the aisle to help strengthen families’ health care and lower their costs. If he’s truly serious, he can show it today by committing to take partisan Trumpcare efforts off the table once and for all, announcing he’ll continue out-of-pocket cost reduction payments, and reversing his decision to gut investments in informing people about how to enroll in health care coverage this fall. Each of these steps would go a long way toward giving families needed certainty about their health care, and I look forward to seeing whether he takes them."
