On April 15, Administrator Samantha Power spoke with the Prime Minister of Bulgaria, Kiril Petkov to discuss the government of Bulgaria’s anti-corruption agenda. The Administrator reaffirmed the United States’ commitment to helping the government of Bulgaria advance critical anti-corruption reforms, strengthen democratic institutions, and spur economic investment.
The two also discussed the importance of working together along with partners outside of government to hold corrupt actors accountable. Administrator Power and Prime Minister Petkov agreed to explore additional avenues for the U.S. to partner with the Bulgarian government to advance efforts aimed at addressing and deterring corruption in Bulgaria.
