The Federal Aviation Administration's Youth Task Force confirmed it has two new members, Jewel Fletcher and Andrew Ross.

Part of fostering new ideas and diversity in the agency is including members of the youth who have divergent ideas from the previous generations, according to an April 25 news release. This is why the FAA recruited two education leaders to be members of the Youth Access to American Jobs in Aviation Task Force to help educate youth who are thinking of a career in aviation.

“My goals for working with the Task Force are to bring youth into aviation at an early age and to help remove as many barriers for them as possible,” Ross said in the release. He is a pilot with United Airlines and founded the Air Line Pilots Association's International Education Committee.

“I hope to bring awareness to youth about the aviation industry and increase their access to aviation careers,” Fletcher said. She is studying for a degree in airline operations from Vaughn College.

The Task Force brings in people from around the aviation community to educate the youth in high school on possible career paths, internships and trades, the news release reported. It also strives to increase interest amongst undergrads in aviation manufacturing and maintenance and STEM degrees.
