The Environmental Protection Agency and Lincoln University will continue to cooperate for another five years under a new agreement.
Under the partnership, EPA Region 7 and the university will work together on scientific endeavors, provide job opportunities for students and reach out to students regarding EPA-related events, the EPA reported in a release.
The renewed memorandum of understanding was signed recently at an event held on Lincoln University's campus in Jefferson City, Missouri, the EPA reported.
"We are proud of the scientific research conducted on Lincoln's campus, and our partnership with the EPA takes our students' and faculty's work to the next level with meaningful, positive changes for our health and environment," Lincoln University President John B. Moseley said the release. "The EPA brings great value to our students as they transition from the university to careers, and in return, Lincoln students bring passion and dedication to help the EPA improve our world."
The organizations will work together on seven areas of collaboration: joint research projects; faculty research participation; student Internships and employment; technical assistance; mini-courses, lectures and seminar speakers; outreach programs; and environmental student initiatives, the EPA reported.
"By advertising employment and internship opportunities to LU students, there will be opportunities to gain valuable hands-on experience," Meg McCollister, EPA Region 7 administrator, said in the release. "But we will be the real winners, because we find that students, in particular, bring incredible enthusiasm to pursuing EPA's mission."
