House Energy and Commerce Committee Republican Leader Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-WA) released the following statement after the Department of Energy announced on Wednesday that it had authorized an increased amount of liquefied natural gas (LNG) exports from two projects that were approved by the prior administration.
“This announcement by the Department of Energy, right before Energy Secretary Granholm’s expected Congressional testimony tomorrow, is a step in the right direction. However, it comes after more than a year of inaction on these applications. These should have been standard, non-controversial, and quicker approvals.
“There is much more that needs to be done to flip the switch and boost American energy production to strengthen our national security and lower costs for hardworking Americans paying more because of Biden’s energy crisis. Approving non-controversial increases to volume limits that have languished for over a year is the bare minimum. I continue to urge the administration to fully abandon its radical rush-to-green agenda and start working with us on pro-American energy solutions like the American Energy Independence from Russia Act.”
