Roth Urges Finance Committee Members to Submit their Views and Priorities for Medicare Reform

The following press release was published by the United States Committee on Finance Ranking Member’s News on July 20, 1999. It is reproduced in full below.

WASHINGTON -- Senate Finance Committee Chairman William V. Roth, Jr. (R-DE) sent a letter to Finance Committee members announcing his intention to release a Chairman's mark on Medicare reform shortly after the August recess.

"I expect to propose significant reforms to the Medicare program, including a prescription drug benefit. To that end, I will be preparing the mark over the next several weeks and would appreciate receiving from each of you a detailed sense of your views and priorities with respect to needed changes in the Medicare program. In this process, I also intend to consider the views of the Administration, as outlined in the President's plan recently forwarded to Congress," Roth stated in the letter.

A copy of the letter is attached.
