Tomato recall issued by Williams Farms due to potential Salmonella risk

ORGANIZATIONS IN THIS STORY

Williams Farms Repack LLC has issued a recall for several tomato products due to a possible Salmonella contamination. Affected products include 4x5 2 layer, 60ct 2 layer, and 3ct trays under the Williams Farms Repack label, as well as 5x6 25lb and 6x6 25lb under the H&C Farms label. The recall comes after notification from Southeast Tomato Distributors about potential contamination from H&C Farms.

Salmonella can cause serious infections, particularly in young children, the elderly, and those with weakened immune systems. Symptoms in healthy individuals may include fever, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain. In rare cases, it can result in more severe illnesses when it enters the bloodstream.

As of this date, no illnesses related to the contamination have been reported. Distribution of the affected products occurred between April 23 and April 28, 2025, to wholesalers and distributors in Georgia, North Carolina, and South Carolina.

Consumers who bought these tomatoes are advised to return them to the purchase location for a refund or safely dispose of them. Questions can be directed to Jason Breland at the provided contact numbers during business hours.

This recall is recognized by the Food and Drug Administration.
