WASHINGTON -- Senate Finance Committee Chairman William V. Roth, Jr. (R-DE) today released the following statement on Clinton's $350 billion tax cut proposal:

"Because of the large and growing budget surpluses, we are in a position to provide significant tax relief for American families, protect Social Security, provide a Medicare drug benefit, cut the public debt, and to significantly improve education.

"I appreciate President Clinton's $350 billion tax cut proposal, but I think we can do more. We must work together in a bipartisan way to provide the tax relief millions of Americans and their families deserve."
