Hearing: Cybershopping and Sales Tax: Finding the Right Mix Date/Time: Aug. 1, 2001, at 10:00 a.m.
Location: 215 Dirksen Senate Office Building Description: The Senate Committee on Finance will hold a hearing on the taxation of sales made over the Internet. In particular, the hearing will focus on whether the tax moratorium should be extended, and if so, whether permanently or temporarily, and if temporarily, for how many years. In addition the hearing will examine other relevant issues including whether, and under what conditions, the states should be authorized to collect sales and use taxes on interstate sales of goods and services arranged over the Internet. The Committee will also receive CBO’s study on the economic implications of Internet transactions.
