WASHINGTON -- Sen. Chuck Grassley, incoming chairman of the Committee on Finance,
today welcomed four new Republican members to the committee: Sens. Rick Santorum of Pennsylvania, Bill Frist of Tennessee, Gordon Smith of Oregon and Jim Bunning of Kentucky.
“I’m looking forward to working with these new committee members and returning members," Grassley said. “We have a busy year ahead, and everyone’s contributions will be welcome and valuable."
The Republican caucus approved the new members during its organizing session today. The Republicans will have 11 committee members. The Democrats, who will have 10 committee members, did not gain any new members.
Subcommittee leaders and members will be determined later, after the committee considers and passes its organizing resolution for the new Congress.
